 Capitol Park Soccer/Cricket field, Wilder Middle School baseball

Both dogs had simple 2 turn tracks designed mainly to push age a bit. 

Seren - 3 hours old. At least one unplanned crosstrack near 1st turn. She had trouble getting started, but after 1st leg not too bad. Perhaps the track contamination was more extensive than I thought. Next track I plan for 2.5 hour age

Dylan had unfamiliar article at start, end article ~3ft to left of the track. Age 1 hour 15 min

He did well. This age did not appear to be an issue for him. Had to hunt for end article, but he found it after a few seconds. Needed verbal cue to indicate start article.

    Really lovely! Great track design and I love the idea of the end article being just off the track - he was great at searching and you did a great job supporting the search and pulling line in to restrict the zone. Also smart setup with the unfamiliar article at the easier start location rather than needing to be searched for. I agree that the age did not seem to phase him. Perhaps a starts session soon?

    Ditto what Jen said! He was very pleased to find that treasured article at the end :). You likely are, but if not, you may want to do some of those article games off the track a few days a week to try and work through the auto down at unfamiliar articles (mentioning more because a couple of times now you're adding it as things to improve). Loving the videos by the way! It makes such a difference to have those.

 I’m cocky enough to think that Seren’s articles are pretty good (at least at the moment). I can think of a couple of games we could have fun with, but they would involve finding appropriate spaces outside, figuring out how to set up the tripod out there, yada, yada, yada. So I took the easy way out to complete the assignment & cheated by using the dog who actually needs this exercise & used Dylan, even though he isn’t in the class. So that he can start generalizing his indication behavior,  I used 2 articles, each stuffed with food. One is the slipper that I use for his little starter tracks, the other a glove he found at the park last week. He isn’t real fluent with his verbal lie down cue yet, so I stayed pretty close to him. That worked out well as my food tossing skills are not to be bragged about either.  Taylor Park Seren’s theme was ‘fun with obstacles’. Had one article with food in it in the woods & one out in the open in addition to start & end She did great with the obstacles & I think had fun doing them. She was very proud of figuring out the fence & wanted to play with passer-by dog, which she never does. Article in woods with food in it is better than food leading up to it, but still needs work. The leg next to the woods was difficult with the slope, but she handled it well. Checked but discarded an opening in the woods prior to the correct one.
