Seren had a 4 turn track with a bit of age since it was nice & cool. Working mainly on building turn confidence, & also had an easy woods entry with an article hidden behind a log

Nice start. Article had been moved 10’ down the track, but sh indicated it at the flag. I liked the turns, & the woods entry was lovely. She nosed the article in the woods, but did not lie down, which is not unusual for her. Need to figure out a place to do an article track in the woods. There were multiple cross tracks towards the end - she handled them ok.

Dylan had a 2 turn track, aged 1 hour. Start was I think the worst one he has done. Probably due to me letting out more line than he was ready for at that level of distraction. Rest of track pretty nice. I was particularly pleased with his drop at end article when I was about 20’ back.

    I love what you’re doing with Seren now….you’re much better at not stacking challenges for her. One thing I’d like you to do…..go back in your blog and find the post where you commented that you’re pretty confident about Seren’s articles….and then re-read your article comments above. Maybe consider adding food before the article, and again after? Putting food IN some articles? She used to love articles, let’s find that again.

12-8-24 Article Games with Dylan

 I’m cocky enough to think that Seren’s articles are pretty good (at least at the moment). I can think of a couple of games we could have fun with, but they would involve finding appropriate spaces outside, figuring out how to set up the tripod out there, yada, yada, yada. So I took the easy way out to complete the assignment & cheated by using the dog who actually needs this exercise & used Dylan, even though he isn’t in the class. So that he can start generalizing his indication behavior,  I used 2 articles, each stuffed with food. One is the slipper that I use for his little starter tracks, the other a glove he found at the park last week. He isn’t real fluent with his verbal lie down cue yet, so I stayed pretty close to him. That worked out well as my food tossing skills are not to be bragged about either.  Taylor Park Seren’s theme was ‘fun with obstacles’. Had one article with food in it in the woods & one out in the open in addition to start & end She did great with the obstacles & I think had fun doing them. She was very proud of figuring out the fence & wanted to play with passer-by dog, which she never does. Article in woods with food in it is better than food leading up to it, but still needs work. The leg next to the woods was difficult with the slope, but she handled it well. Checked but discarded an opening in the woods prior to the correct one.  Capitol Park Soccer/Cricket field, Wilder Middle School baseball Both dogs had simple 2 turn tracks designed mainly to push age a bit.  Seren - 3 hours old. At least one unplanned crosstrack near 1st turn. She had trouble getting started, but after 1st leg not too bad. Perhaps the track contamination was more extensive than I thought. Next track I plan for 2.5 hour age https://youtu.be/kEDFTwoFo8M?feature=shared Dylan had unfamiliar article at start, end article ~3ft to left of the track. Age 1 hour 15 min He did well. This age did not appear to be an issue for him. Had to hunt for end article, but he found it after a few seconds.
