Windsor Business Park. Recently bush-hogged weeds, wet. Sunny, 75 degrees, 5mph, 72%.
Seren had a 3 turn track (L,L,R) with a toy (fabric or leather😊) to play with on each leg & a food drop 10-20 steps beyond each article. Age 30 min.
She did a competent job on the track, but her enthusiasm for playing with the articles diminished with each one. Some blackberry branches in the mowed weeds may have been a factor, or just the heat

To me, track looked better on video than it felt while running it
He had a lovely start after a verbal reminder to down at article. Nice turn. Didn’t particularly want to lie down at end in the ditch, but was convinced to.
Link to video. Battery ran out in middle, but at least the start can be seen.
Loved, loved the first turn and second leg. Second turn was beautiful. Noticing a pattern—you’re having to cue the down, she does, and then she hops up to go back to work. I think this might be good. I’m gonna say you had avoidance at the first right turn, and maybe (?) less enthusiasm on that leg? But she came back, nice enthusiasm on the last leg. She did appear hot at the last article, she also looked like she wanted to keep tracking (yay!).
ReplyDeleteBetty, I liked this. Perhaps be aware that tracking Seren isn’t herding Seren. Tracking Seren seems to actually care about your opinion, so maybe be a bit lighter—more enthusiastic less ‘where’s your track.’ When she goes back to work after an article or food drop, happy ‘good girl!’ It’s a fine line for sure, to me, she’s looking sensitive. And that might explain her melting at tests. And, since you (in theory) know the track continues on the same line after an article at a test, you can give her that support.
Off to watch Dylan
Lovely start Dylan! Such a different dog!
