Klehr field. Short grass, snow covered in places. Seren’s track was put in @10:20&aged2hr10min. 42degrees, 4mph wind, 51% humidity when run. Sunny

This was a different kind of scent re-aquisition track, with articles right on the turns. After downing at the first article (at the 1st turn) she got up & went straight about 5 feet before indicating loss of scent. Checked left first, found 2nd leg & went. Found food drop @25 yd & then ~5yd further on picked head up & stopped. I don’t know if she was air-scenting something or hearing something or what but I had to tell her a couple of times to get back to work before she did. At 2nd turn she had the game figured out & started checking around for the track as soon as she got up from indicating the article, found 3rd leg easily & went. Last 3/4 of 3rd leg was snow covered, which was no problem, but Seren really doesn’t like to lie down in the snow so I had to verbally cue her for that at end article.

Dylan had a 2 turn track on short grass with snow on a large portion of 1st leg. Track laid at 10:30 & aged 15min. Sunny, 38 degrees, 3mph, 60%. S5, W10,F,W10,S5…. At turns, S5 in & out, with food every 3 scuffs

I had forgotten to put food at start flag, so it took Dylan a few seconds to focus on what we were doing & then off he went. I had to stop him to remove a chicken bone from his mouth on 3rd leg - he went right back to work afterwards. End article was a leather glove which was new to him, but he downed at it without prompting.

  1. glad that she went back to work after the air scenting, even if it took a couple of commands. working through that will help you in a test for sure.

    1. I decided she was having one of those ‘mindfulness’ moments that my watch keeps telling me to do, LOL

  2. Lately Seren's theme seems to be the scent re-aquisition tracks :)...what will the next theme be? Seren seems to pick up on the pattern quickly (clever girl that she is). Glad you guys worked through that moment on leg 2 and she got back to tracking. Dylan seems like he's taking to tracking nicely! Glad you got the chicken bone extracted from his mouth!
