Chamberlayne Elementary school.
Seren had a 3 turn track with multiple ‘obstacles’, none of which were new to her. Age 3 hours, one intermediate article. This was good for both of us. I had forgotten how long it has been since she tracked in such a heavily contaminated area & it was fun to watch her use her problem solving skills. Also, some of the legs were long enough that I had time step behind her to see if she got back on track - she did. Articles were good - she went off track a bit to check out a piece of paper on the 3rd leg, realized it wasn’t a legit article, but thought about it for a msec & decided to lie down anyway.
Will do some more of this type of area more often & not always try to pick the least used area of the park or schoolground where we are training.
video: https://youtu.be/8ItATRhcNFM?feature=sharedDylan had a straight line track with multiple articles, food 10-15 steps after each article. He did a pretty good job of staying on task, downed on his own before I could tell him a couple of times. So I decided to test him on the last article, which is is favorite, & he failed. We are not done with this exercise, but I think maybe we’ll do starts our next time out.

Seren: nice! I love the crap cover and the contamination—if she own that at 3 or 4 hours, a nice relatively clean X field will be a piece of cake. She had to work hard for this, so maybe follow up with an ‘easy’ track (better cover or less contamination, and shorter), run it between 2-2.5 hours and see if that combo is motivating for her. Personally, I’d giver her a day off, but that’s me.
ReplyDeleteDylan: it’s a work in progress. Sure, starts, maybe a stairstep, duration….and come back to this. Nice to see you working on it! Just a thought, I might test the second to last article, so if it matters, the last one he remembers is a cued success. If that doesn’t resonate with you, no problem! He did get much tighter to the track as it went on!
Article track seemed like a good one to have at this point. He definitely downs nicely on cue! Curious, does he need the verbal cue when you play article games?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration! I watch you and Seren to get ideas. That was a hard track but so fun!
