11-25-25 tracking class

 Dorey Park

Seren had a 2 turn blind track, laid by Ellen. 3hr20min old. Only food was in articles. Paralleled & then crossed road. Partly cloudy, moderate breeze, lower 60s.

Great start & articles. Blown by wind a bit, cut corners on turns but recovered well. I need more blind tracks with long legs - Seren doesn’t care about length, but I get antsy if a leg goes much over 100 yd.

  1. That was lovely—maybe push to 4 hours next track, and then “come back” to 3. I wasn’t there…so my comments might be way off base. I’d consider going back there to train, and do some work along the road. Cars are hard for her, you’ve trained a beautiful alternative behavior, now I think it would be helpful to teach her to offer her alternative behavior, and then resume tracking.

And, I must say, this made me a little teary. We started our tracking journey together at Dorey, first with Darcy and Tara, and then with Darcy and Katie. A lot of memories in those fields!
