Seren did a classic stairstep track. While she wasn’t as precise as on a 30 min. track, I thought she did well. She had 1 episode of what looked like a ‘senior moment’ - staring off into space for no reason I could tell - but she got back to work as soon as I broke the trance. Articles good. I felt like I was reading LOS well, but hard to be sure of that when you know where the track goes.

Dylan had a 4 turn track, crossing bluestone walkway on 2nd leg. 3rd turn was acute. He had no problems with walkway today, handled acute turn fine. I remembered to tell him ‘good’ for turning left. I am seeing a pattern with distractions, tho. He seems fine with ongoing activity around us, but if something new appears on the scene, he looses focus for a minute. That happened at the start today with a dog walker arriving as we got going. They were not particularly close, but Dylan felt the need to look at them. Got back to work once he realized they weren’t a threat. Articles were excellent!

Seren looks quite nice, her LOS is easy to read, she generally indicates the correct direction first, and then sometimes checks before committing. I can’t tell how far you are behind her, my gut is I’d like you closer, and then at the turns, keep your feet still until she’s gone 3-4 body lengths down the track. I’m a little worried she’s reading your willingness to follow, that may be where she looses enthusiasm for the game. Over a month, I’d like to see you at 6-10 feet, let her take the line all the way out before your feet move (and then of course, hustle back up to 6-10 ft). It’s interesting she cast off just before the article. I’m mulling that over. Overall, she looks to be in a good place with fall tests coming up.
ReplyDeleteDylan. Funny, you DO let him go a couple of body lengths down the track before you step out with him! You are doing a GREAT job following your dogs until they offer LOS, I would like you closer to them, at the very least as you approach the turns, so you can more easily give line. 20’ is for tests, and tests only! He looks great.
