6-15-25 Happy Birthday Seren

 Courthouse park.

Seren -  experimented with playing with intermediate articles on the track, one on each leg. 3 left turns, then a right. Scuffed 5 steps after each turn.

Playing with the articles certainly seemed to improve her enthusiasm, seems like a good plan for a while. Also, the track design appeared to answer the question of 2nd turn vs left turn. At least for now, she definitely prefers to go right. Will repeat the same thing with R-R-R-L & see what happens

Dylan had a 2 turn track with changes of cover - short/tall grass. 1 food drop/leg, scuff 5 steps after each turn. Age 45 min.

Observation - Dylan ?.almost? always checks my ‘walk up to the start flag’ track before heading in the right direction. Today he had to think about the tall grass entry, but figured it out pretty quickly.

  1. You’re right! I love it. Her energy increased after every article! She almost dove back to work by the third one. DO NOT ‘try R-R-R-L—-that is asking her to struggle. Keep playing with 2-3L and 1 right. Her right turn was exactly what we are looking for—if that degrades, we might (might) add another right. But I want to see her owning left turns like she owns the right ones. She may always be a dog who checks right first—that’s fine. I just want to see her (as she did on the third turn I think) give it up and trot around to search left.

Let’s add an article to the first leg, more than 20 yards down the leg, and see if we can get more enthusiasm for the start. In theory, the enthusiasm we are building will bleed backwards…but let’s give it a push!

Dylan looks great. I like his start—he does usually check out the walk in, he usually takes a second to look for lions, and then he goes to work. I like the way he worked out the tall grass transition.

The tall grass would be a good easy, confidence building challenge for Seren, combined with her left turns. Might want to leave a big article so she can find it when you throw it!
